Fitness Assessment Instructions - Updated: 9/9/10 Fitness assessments are recommended for both new members and existing members. These assessments will help both the member and the instructor determine fitness needs. You must schedule an appointment for an assessment.
Prior to coming in for an assessment, you need to remember the following suggestions in order to have more accurate results.
- No coffee/caffeine before testing
- Need to wear appropriate attire for measurements (sports bra, shorts, etc.)
- Cannot workout before testing
- And, most importantly, come in happy, relaxed, and hopefully stress free!!
Fitness assessments include the following:
- Health history and restrictions
- Blood pressure and heart rate
- Body measurements
- Body composition: Futrex utilizing a computer generated body fat analysis
Muscular strength and endurance: push-ups, crunches, and other exercises
- General questionnaire: used to obtain background family medical history
- Three minute step test: to assess cardiovascular endurance
- Nutrition questionnaire to assess eating habits
- Sit and reach test: testing flexibility of the lower back and hamstrings
- Review results and determine goals: Computer graphs are used to display fitness results and set both short and long-term goals
